Title: XV views images too dark.

Date: March 12, 1995

Problem:

When viewing images in XV, the images appear to be too dark.

Cause:

Pixel!FX and XV perform gamma correction in different ways.

Solution:

Do the following to view these images correctly in Pixel!FX and XV.

  1. Start PFX with this command :
    pfx -displayGamma 1.0
    OR
    add this line to the resource file ( $PIXELFXDIR/Pfx ) :
    -displayGamma 1.0
  2. In Pixel!SCAN do a pre-scan and adjust gamma to 2.2
  3. Do a final scan with gamma at 2.2.
  4. Save the image after final scan.
  5. XV will now display the saved image correctly.
